RE: HOYA CANADA SERVICE UPDATE – COVID-19

Dear Valued Business Partner

On March 23rd, 2020, Premier Doug Ford announced a mandatory closure for all non-essential workplaces in the province of Ontario to take effect on Tuesday March 24th at 11:59 pm in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. Hoya will continue to support the needs our customers as long as we are permitted to do so. However, due to the regulations and restrictions imposed as a response to the pandemic, we have taken preventative measures to ensure that we are abiding by guidelines set forth by government officials.

We are still operating regular hours in all our labs across Canada including Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg to offer you complete support during this unfortunate time. We have implemented safety procedures to help protect our employees by providing a clean and safe environment. Hoya has also established a Crisis Management Team and will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely.

As the Ally of the Independent Practice, we understand the difficulties imposed by this pandemic and the impact that it has on eye care professions like you. Hoya is dedicated, as always to assisting you in any way that we can. We have implemented extended payment terms to independent eye care professionals in Canada to help maintain and re-build your business and are working on implementing programs that can help you to bounce back quickly when things return to normal.

As the situation evolves, we will continue to monitor and respond accordingly while ensuring that you are always up to date. We would like to thank you for your support during this time and know that we can get through this together.

A Message from our CEO

Dear valued customer,
We hope you, your families, your employees and patients are well and safe.

The current global COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented. We are following the news closely – as we are sure you are too - and our teams are continuously monitoring the latest internal and external developments.

We wanted to let you know that we stand by you. Now and in the future. We are taking every measure to ensure the safety of our employees, as well as the continuity of supply and service to you, to the extent that this is possible.

Our supply chain is operational, and our teams are here to support you.
It is of utmost importance to us that, as soon as restrictions ease, your business can flourish again. Please rest assured that we continue to work ceaselessly and prepare measures to support you in rebounding as quickly as possible once the pandemic is behind us and consumer confidence will gradually restore.

Our teams are here for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your local customer care team or your Hoya Territory Manager with any questions or queries you may have.

We are fully committed to you and we are confident we will prevail through these difficult times together!

Best wishes,

Hiroshi Suzuki

Dear valued business partner,

Hoya Vision Care Canada values your partnership and takes pride in the delivery of exceptional products and services. In light of recent developments concerning the COVID-19 situation, we want to assure you that we understand the impact of this pandemic and are taking all necessary actions to ensure the safety of our customers, your patients, our employees and the environment that we work in.

We are currently still operating at full production to deliver your lenses as close to the normal service levels that you expect and will continue to do so until further notice. Without compromising quality or service levels, we made some additional adjustments to our processes in light of the COVID-19:

  • We have educated all employees about the signs & symptoms of the virus along with precautions that are to be taken to prevent the spread
  • We have posted the Public Health Agency of Canada fact sheet in all of our locations across Canada
  • All surfaces are sanitized daily in all labs and offices
  • All employees in quality assurance and shipping have been mandated to wear gloves during their shifts
  • All employees’ health is constantly monitored based on COVID 19 instructions
    • Staff with potential exposure is restricted from entering the lab
  • Travel and symptom related checks are being done in each lab to avoid potential contamination
  • We have provided instructions to all employees to ensure that proper hygiene etiquette is followed at all times to reduce the chances of contamination
  • No visitors are permitted on our premises until further notice

In addition to implementing the above noted laboratory safety measures, our sales team will refrain from in-person visits with customers until the virus has been contained and restrictions have been lifted. We have implemented travel limitations across the board that will remain in effect until further notice.

Hoya Vision Care Canada will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and Health Canada recommendations in an effort to ensure we comply with any and all safety precautions necessary to help in the containment of this terrible virus.

We thank you for your continued support and encourage you to contact your Hoya Territory Manager with any further questions about our response to this situation.
